 Creating a Posting

New Positions:


Create the Job Description.

Create the position in Unit4. If the new position is supervisory, also set up the position with its reports.


Log-in to your Unit4 Recruit (U4R) account and create a posting1. If you do not have an account contact careers@selkirk.ca.


Submit the posting to the Human Resources Recruitment Team, allowing up to 72 hours for the approval process.


Once the posting has been approved by HR in the system, it will be live on the career site2 and ready to receive applications.

Existing Positions:


Access the job posting repository on the drive located at: S:/HR/Postings Repository and choose the most up to date version. For new positions, contact the HR Director.


Update the Job Description.

 Candidate Assessment and Review


Once your posting has closed, login to your Unit4 Recruit (U4R) account to access the respective candidate folder.


Using the assessment tools, complete assessments for all candidates. This step must be completed by both the Hiring Manager and all members of the Hiring Committee.3

Setting Up and Conducting Interviews


Log-in to your Unit4 Recruit (U4R) account to access the candidate folder for your posting. 


Identify which candidates you would like to interview based on qualifications and experience. Contact both your recruiter and Hiring Committee members to identify availability dates and times.


Book a room for interview times that correspond with your Hiring Committee/Recruiter availability.4


Create GroupWise calendar invitations for interview times, send to Hiring Committee members and Recruiter.


Using the “Interview” tool in U4R, schedule interview time slots and invite candidates.5


Once all candidates have selected interview slots, update calendar invitations and room bookings accordingly to release time not required.


Collect interview packages from Recruiter or request drop off in advance of first interview.


Ensure all members of the Hiring Committee sign the code of conduct form enclosed in their interview package prior to interviews.

 Candidate Selection


Complete candidate rating and identify final candidates.


Contact careers@selkirk.ca for referee and additional detail collection required to complete reference checks.


Complete References by using the form included in the interview package or available online.6


Within 24 hours of selecting final candidate, return complete interview package: signed code of conduct forms, all interview notes, completed employment contract form, scale placement form (as required) and reference check forms). All scale placement forms need to be reviewed by HR.7

  7. All employment offers will be made by Human Resources. If you would like, you can arrange to be present. HR will send welcome email and request employee email to be set up. HR will send regrets to all external candidates that applied, as well as external candidates that were interviewed. HR will send regrets to all internal candidates that applied, as well as the ones that were interviewed, some exceptions may apply.
