Method 1:
- Copy the network address/folder path to the clipboard (ctrl+c or right-click and select copy). Eg. //server/folder
- Open File Explorer (Windows key + E)
- Navigate to "This PC"
- Click the Computer Tab from the top left of the Explorer window.
- Select Map Network Drive.
- Choose a drive letter that is not in use (A, B, and D are not recommended) from the Drive: drop-down menu.
- Paste the network address/folder path into the Folder: text field.
- Click Finish.
- If the network address//folder path was inputted correctly an Explorer window with the new drive map will appear on the screen.
- This new network drive will appear under the "This PC" object on the left of the Explorer window.
Method 2:
- Copy the network address/folder path to the clipboard (ctrl+c or right-click and select copy). Eg. //server/folder
- Right-click on the desktop or subfolder where you wish for the shortcut to live.
- Select New→Shortcut from the flyout window.
- Paste the network address from the clipboard (ctrl+p or right-click and select paste).
- Click next and Windows will attempt to create the shortcut, if the shortcut is misspelled or leads to an unknown location it will fail.
- If this folder resides within the OES network share system (S: drive) you must be connected to the OES client or else the shortcut creation process will fail.
- On the next screen, you may enter your own name for the shortcut or click finish to create the shortcut.
- You now have access to the folder.
