  • Require students click submit button:  There is an advantage and disadvantage for this setting.  If you set it at YES, then students see the button and the message that the assignment has been submitted.  There is a comfort level here, and it may save you receiving multiple emails checking to see if the assignment was received.  It also means that the submitted assignment cannot be deleted because it has been 'sent for marking'.  Thus, if a student notices an error, or has uploaded the wrong file, they cannot delete the wrong file and upload the correct(ed) one.

  • Attempts reopened:

      • Never - the student cannot reopen the assignment

      • Manually - the submission can be reopened by the teacher

      • Automatically until pass - the student can reopen the assignment until they have reached the grading pass criteria set out in the gradebook

  • Maximum attempts

  • Students submit in groups: A group submission will be shared among group members and all members of the group will see each others changes to the submission.

  • Require all group members submit:  Only shows if the above is set to Yes.

  • All members of the student group must click the submit button for this assignment before the group submission will be considered as submitted. If disabled, the group submission will be considered as submitted as soon as any member of the student group clicks the submit button.

  • Grouping for student groups:  grouping method used to define the student groups.

  • Notify graders about submissions:  When an assignment is uploaded, you will receive notification.

  • Notify graders about late submissions:  Late assignments will also trigger notification.

  • Default setting for "Notify students".  Setting this at yes - immediately after marking the assignment the student is notified.  If you prefer to have all students receive their grades at the same time, change this to No, and lock the assignment at the gradebook level until marking of all papers is complete.  Then unlock it at the gradebook level and send notifications at that time. (See Gradebook - hiding and locking).
