  1. Start to delete old messages and attachments that you no longer need.
  2. Merge Groupwise archives to your Groupwise mailbox
  3. Managing Your Groupwise Mailbox Size
  4. Make note of your shared folders. You may not be the owner of the folder and may require the original owner to re-share.  
  5. Make note of your Proxy emails so you can cross reference once the migration is complete.
  6. Take a screen shot of your Cabinet to reference back to if needed.

Migration will begin the evening of February 12th, 2021.

 

Outlook on the Web will be available on Saturday, February 13th, 2021.  During the week of February 22nd, IT Services will begin to deploy the Outlook Client to staff machines through scheduled deployments.

For Apple MacOS users, the Outlook mail client is directly downloadable from Apple and Microsoft

The Groupwise email client will be uninstalled after the migration is complete.  General emails, attachments, address books and calendars will migrate over to Outlook.  Archives and cabinet files will not transfer to Outlook.

Outlook Mail client will be deployed to your college computer starting February 22nd, 2021.  You can also access Outlook on the web starting February 13th, 2021.

Yes, attachments up to 100 MB will transfer to Outlook.

No, your trash folder will not be moved over to Outlook. However, you can restore trash emails and drag them from the trash folder to any other folder within your mailbox.  Once migrated to Outlook, Microsoft standards are that messages older than 30 days will be deleted.

Yes, your "work in progress" emails will transfer to your Outlook mailbox.

Yes, your Groupwise address book will transfer over to Outlook address book.

That means that you have never archived any emails or files.  You will have one less step to do in your clean up preparation.

You must access a Selkirk computer that has the Groupwise client.  Archives can not be accessed from Webmail.

The ideal size of your groupwise mailbox is 2GB for the average user.  As you prepare your groupwise mailbox for the email transition, keep the 2GB recommendation in mind.

Up to 50GB with the Outlook desktop client. As always, it is recommended that you keep your mailbox clean to maximize performance. Larger mailboxes will perform slower especially on older computers.

Yes, mail merge is supported by the Outlook mail client. Please contact IT Services should you require assistance.

No, you can continue using Outlook on the web via your favorite web browser. The Outlook mail client can be installed as part of the Office O365 Suite on your personal computer or directly downloadable for MacOS users from Apple and Microsoft.  Outlook will always be available via the web portal.

Yes, your Outlook 365 email can be added to your phone providing your email application supports ModernAuth/OAuth2 including the Outlook App on iOS and Android. Note - Only Microsoft Outlook Mail application is officially supported.

The email migration to Outlook will have no impact to students enrolled in Moodle.

Contact IT Services and notify us of the loss / theft. Should the device connect to the internet again, IT Services can remotely wipe the entire phone including email on the device.
